Visit Skyview Aviation's website at http://www.skyviewaviation.com/

The 80th Airport Anniversary was a great success. Thousands of enthusiastic people attended and the Power Parachutes and Hot Air Balloon were able to launch in the early part of the day. Thanks to everyone who helped facilitate the event. Special thanks to Craig and Conchita for producing our attractive TAA banner.

There is a short video of clips of the event on the blog and Youtube channel.

One of the TAA's current tasks is to educate the community via newspaper, newsletters, and word of mouth of some of the positive and fun events that will be taking place at the Tracy Airport during 2009 and beyond and support the world of aviation.

Remember to get your annual TAA dues in. We are doing it manually now and are looking closer at using paypal and online resources.

Be sure to visit our media links provided in this newsletter and interact with us as well as encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to get involved in local aviation and join us in this fun club of the Tracy Airport Association!

Adding Substance to our Mission:

Supporting The Community And Charities While Educating And Sharing The Fun And Benefits Of Being Involved With Aviation And The TAA.

Please note: Our next BBQ Potluck meeting on your calendar April 8th at 6:00pm with special guest Airport Manager, Rod Buchanan. Three primary topics Rod will cover in addition to our questions are: The financial condition of the Airport and where the money goes and where spent. He’ll also respond to questions on his vision of airport, and of course our upcoming 80th anniversary celebration. We’ve been averaging around 40 members attending these evening social gatherings with special guests with whom we’re building relationships between our aviation community and our Tracy community at large. Come on out and join the Fun, the Challenge and the Fellowship. We’d love to give our Tracy Airport Manager a great crowd eager to present questions for the good of the order. If you’re too shy (smile) to ask a question, write it down and give it to a board member and we’ll ask it for you. Details below. See you there.

Happy Landings,

Don Gutridge

TAA Secretary

2009 is already turning into a very exciting year!!

Did you see the Feb 21st issue of the Tracy Press?! Richard Ortenheim and Skyview Aviation were the cover story! The article is in a link on our blog at the right hand column or go to Tracypress.com and enter Richard's first and last name in the search box. The article talked about how other business's are retracting but not Skyview Aviation. It's a must read and cover story so click on the online version.

Please remember that on Saturday April 25th the Tracy Airport will have its 80th birthday celebration.

There will be lots of food, entertainment, and many vendors at the event so bring the whole family and invite your neighbors for this fun and educational experience!

Thanks to Eric Olsen of Skyview Aviation for creating a Facebook group for the Tracy Airport and Skyview Aviation. It is an open group for all to join and lots of fun networking there too. This is again another media outlet to reach out to our community and spread the word about aviation and the positive impact it has on people and cities.

For Every Member To Attend Our March Meeting!! This will be pot luck style and held at the Tracy Airport at 6 pm March 10th. Contact Conchita of Skyview for an item to bring. Another email will be sent prior to the meeting as a reminder but mark your calendars now for March 10th 2009. See you there for a fun evening. Due to an overlap in other functions we have decided to move our TAA meetings to the second Tuesday of each month.

If anyone would like to donate a free flight to Hospice for Bay Area Children (basically take someone on a short flight for hire and donate the proceeds) contact Mona of Skyview Aviation by calling her at the Tracy Airport office for the complete information. This is The Bay Area's only free standing hospice for children and is in danger of shutting down.

Have a great March and here is a history and educational site about the origin of aviation and the Wright Brothers. The true story may surprise you! Visit http://Tinyurl.com/airhistory

Our January board meeting was extremely productive. 2009 is going to be a very exciting year.

One of the TAA's current tasks is to educate and inform the community via newspaper, newsletters, and word of mouth of some of the positive and fun events that will be taking place at the Tracy Airport during 2009 and beyond.

One particular task that is in the works is a change in aircraft traffic patterns so local residential neighborhoods will have even less noise due to an even quieter approach path. It has been proven that there is no current noise problem however. Skyview Aviation is heading this effort in the spirit of pleasing all of our community!

We are thrilled to announce that Skyview Aviation is on track to be flying 300 operations a day in the near future as well as having it's own flight school 141 certified. Skyview Aviation will develop a manufacturing line for single engine airplanes which will add more skilled jobs to our city and will be bringing in more revenue for the city via increased fuel sales. Take a peek at Skyview Aviations' enhanced website at www.SkyviewAviation.com and don't forget to put it into your list of favorite websites!

Be sure to visit our media links provided in the heading of this simple newsletter and interact with us as well as encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to get involved in local aviation and join us in this fun club of the Tracy Airport Association!

The TAA is planning to make attractive 'T' shirts with the Tracy Airport Association logo embossed and possibly one of our web media sites added too. Don't forget that these shirts will make great gifts.

On April 25th there will be a large public event at the Tracy Airport for all to attend to celebrate the 80th anniversary of our Tracy Airport. On the agenda of exciting events will be a huge static display of many different aircraft, a NASCAR show, live entertainment, a possible aerobatics show, and tons of vendors. Be sure to bring your friends and family and invite your neighbors for this Saturday April 25th event!

Conchita the TAA Treasurer presented the current Treasury Report. Nothing was spent in 2008.

This Months TAA Challenge:
For Every Member To Bring a Friend To Our Feb. 3rd Meeting!! This will be potluck style and held at the Tracy Airport at 6 pm Feb. 3rd.
See you there.

Regards,

Marty Hamilton for the TAA.

Welcome to the TAA

Welcome to the blog for news and information about the Tracy Airport Association (TAA) and the Tracy Municipal (TCY) and New Jerusalem Airports (1Q4). The Tracy Airport Association is a nonprofit public-benefit California Corporation and a local chapter of the California Pilot's Association (CPA).

We are a community of friends, family, pilots, aviation enthusiasts and advocates joining together to support our local airports. Tracy Airport and New Jerusalem Airport, offer many unique opportunities for our community, businesses, commercial pilots, private and recreational pilots.

The airport offers unique history through the years, being used as a military training site for WWII pilots. During the 70's, Tracy airport was a bustling hub of businesses, pilots, aviators and plane owners.

Small public airfields are a community resource for you. For those of us who use these airports and are interested in aviation, we have a duty to give our time and money to preserve the airport and keep aviation alive in Tracy for generations to come. Volunteering for the TAA is civic duty and community service. Make a lasting difference for your community. Please join us and join the TAA today. TAA Membership dues and donations are tax deductible. Print a Membership application from the Become a Member page and send it in today! Hope to see you at the airport soon.

Take a look around the site, photos, calendar of events, current news and headlines for our airport...

Thanks...your support is appreciated,
Tracy Airport Association .
